The Faerie Dildo
made by Tantus Silicone
$45 from The Sensual Vegan

The Faerie has long been a popular dildo in my collection. (And I have played with a lot of sex toys, yes indeedy.) It's on the small side- measuring in at 5.45 inches long and only 1.3 inches wide, but it's not meant to be one of those super-big toys. No, this magical friend is there to hit your g-spot (or p-spot, if you're someone with a prostate), and it aces that task. (I have mine in the since-discontinued dark purple; it's now available in light purple and white, both of which have a nice luster to them.) Like all Tantus vibes/dildos, the Faerie has a flared base, which means you can use it in a strapon, it's safe for anal play, and it simply has a nice something to grab when you're using it and all covered and lube. One of my favorites, from my favorite sex toy company.

One Night Stand directed by Emilie Jouvet
$34.95 from Fatale Media on DVD and VHS
Hot stuff: real lesbians, great soundtrack, handjobs and oral, strapons, and a bit artsy

One Night Stand is a French by-and-for-lesbians flick that has won a number of awards. Aside from the feature, the bonus material include two extra scenes, interviews, and backstage footage. The movie follows different pairings through a horny first-time encounter. The first scene sets an artistic tone with a solid "non-porny" soundtrack. In a club, different people catch eyes and dance and flirt, leading to fooling around and fucking in the club's bathroom. After that, two butch women/trannybois in an apartment fuck each other in an aggressive-lusty way. Next, we have the only scene with (subtitled) dialogue, with a quick plot of a sex toy delivery girl getting it on with a customer and demonstrating the goods. In the final scene, my favorite, two ladies fuck one other in a really hot entanglement in a bathroom stall. (The scene is very well-filmed for the small space.) Unlike mainstream porn, the movie doesn't have tons of close ups and crotch-shots, framing people's entire bodies and showing a lot of (orgasmic and happy) faces. In the special features, there's two more scenes. The first is a cutely-told scene of two dolls come to life in a bedroom, which, of course, leads to sex. The other features two women going at it, starting from in front of a window, and moving to the bed. Overall, lots of hot, realistic sex and natural bodies.

Hathor Aphrodisia Lube
made by Hathor Body
$20-$30 from The Sensual Vegan

I've tried a lot of lubes in my days - as both a recreational and professional masturbator (ha!) - from really hippie ones made mostly of organic aloe vera, to some nasty "strawberry joy jelly" that came with a cheap dildo. I prefer something with more slip-and-slide action than what some all-natural lubes provide, but without the massive list of chemicals found in run-of-the-mill lubes. My pussy and I met our true love a few years ago when I found Hathor Aphrodisia and started carrying in my store. (The Goldilocks of lube, I am.) It's the perfect consistency, it barely has any taste or smell, and is sugar- and glycerin-free for women who are sensitive to those ingredients. I know that taste in lubes is totally a personal thing, but for this person, Hathor gets my gold-standard seal of approval.
